You really got to love the kiwis. Went out for a drink night with the girl i got a lift with today and since everything was closed and the town was even more like a ghost-town than usual we ended up in a locals bar. Twas quite the unnerving experience. Was like a mix between an under-age disco and a 60th birthday party. There really is not a lot for people around here to do so they seem to make up for it with alcohol. Stayed around for a while as there was a live band playing. In the end though we got bought drink not once but twice by random locals who came over talking to us, i guess we just did not look that much like the locals, lack of gills probably. Hurrah anyway.

I actually like the sounds of the place, seriously. in moderate doses of course. any chance of some photos? the kinda place i'd like to build a weekend retreat when i'm making a 100k+

Also that glacier bit looks pretty sweet. not putting your little foray into the wilds down or anythging paul, but it looked a little easy, and touristy for my liking. the guy wearing the cut off denim shorts kinda ruined it for me. the walk in looked cool though. i'm one of the few people i know who likes to spend hours walking into places across boulder fields and bogs, before any real climbing begins. and no i don't think i'll be commenting on bebo paul. i must admit i do on the rare occasion visit your page and have a glimpse at the photos.

I wish i had gills and lived under the sea.

you are aware that the guy in cut-off was a piss take. it was on the wall and was just begging to be taken a picture of. I have to actually agree with you and say that the glacier hike was actually well easy. I was in the fast-hard group but at no time during the day did i actually feel like i was exherting myself, mostly because of the fact we stopped every two minutes to cut more steps.
