First Impressions

Well, so its day 1 here in Queenstown. Crashed and burned last night, i know i posted something then but cant remember for the life of me. The flight over was actually not as bad as i expected, i slept the whole way from Shannon to London (mostly because of lack of sleep from the night before, thanks Liam and Conal), then for around 8 hours between London and Bangkok and then for around 4 between Bangkok and Sydney. I cant remember the flight from Sydney to Christchurch but i dont think i slept and i certainly did not from Christchurch to Queenstown, the view was amazing. When you fly out of Sydney you actually fly over the city so i can say i say Sydney Bridge and Opera House, chalk those off the sites i have to see before i die.

I was invited out for a few drinks last night by thjis guy i was sitting beside and his friends and while i had the best intentions i was not able to walk straight by 7 so i emailed him and made a rain-check, not much of a start for my go-out-and-make-friends plan but i got their number and texted them today. On that note, i actually got my phone working today and my number does be 0061-212045358, someone give me a text soon just so i know that i internationalised that right, i think 0061 is right. I was awake this morning at 5 though, made myself snooze til 7 and then got up just as the sun was rising. I should be alright sleep-wise by tomorrow i say.

So i am kindof at a loss as to waht to do with myself. I have got my phone organised and applied for the NZ equivelent of a Social Security number so i can work. I dont want to start straight away and dont know which of the many many activities to do. The place i am staying in at the moment, The Hippo Lodge, is clean and stuff but its not very cozy or anything, the only other people i have seen is the receptioist and 2 asien girls in my room, if it were not for them i could have slept comfortable as god intended. I am moving to another joint tomorrow called The Black SHeep. Called up there today to make my booking and it seemed much more lively, a more central rec area, kitchen and reception area, same price as the Hippo as well.

Read Sarahs entries on Queenstown there, its weird to think that she was here, as was AnneMarie. The place is only really the size of Killaloe. Just exploring today and yesterday, there is actually a frisbee-golf course, i get a feel of Maine from the place. It is autumn at the minute and all the leaves are brown and falling, kind of New Paltz-esque.

I may head for a nap in a wee bit, still a bit dozy. Forgot the word for shampoo last night when i was asking the receptionist where could i buy stuff. Oh and the bread, milk and cornflakes all taste the same so all is good on that end. I am too out of it to make any serious philosophical or intellectual effort in this post so i shall leave it at that. Comment now, or even better write your own entry. Even if it is mundane and boring as hell it is still my biggest link to home.

It's finally happened

So after many a year of talk and many months of saving i am finally here in New Zealand, Queenstown to be exact. I am after spending 28 hours in a plane, gone through i dont know how many time-zones and travelling at least 12,000 miles but i do finally be here in a hostel. Apologies if this is exceptionally brief but i am exceptionally tired. I slept for around 15 hours on the plane but it was pretty shitty sleep to be honest. On a good note however, I arrived in my hostel and was told that the double bed in the room had become free so now i get to sleep in possibly the most comfortable bed in history.

This was just a short one to say I am still alive and the whole blog thing is up and running again. A longer article is sure to follow.
